The sixth national congress of the China Association of Judges (CAJ) and the China Women Judges Association (CWJA) was held in Beijing on January 18.

The sixth council members of the two associations were elected at the meeting.

Zhou Qiang, President of the Supreme People's Court, was re-elected as the CAJ President.

Song Yushui, Vice-President of the Beijing Intellectual Property Court (BIPC), was elected as Vice-President of the CAJ and President of the CWJA at the congress.

Other vice-presidents of the CWJA include Li Jing, Ge Xiaoyan, Yang Linping and Baharguli Saimaiti.

The CWJA should thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, stay true to CPC's original aspiration and keep the mission firmly in mind in the work of the association, Song said.

She urged the association to  faithfully perform the association's duties, and be bold in reform and innovation.

Efforts should be made to serve women judges, to protect their legitimate rights and interests and to promote their development in an all-round way. It is necessary to fully listen to their opinions and aspirations, publicize their stories of good work, and enhance the association's work to a higher level, she added.

Song was born in February 1966, in Penglai City, East China's Shandong Province. She studied civil and commercial law at the China University of Political Science and Law and holds a doctoral degree.

Song began her career in August 1989 and joined the Communist Party of China in October 1988.

She is an Alternate Member of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, part-time Vice-President of the All-China Women's Federation, and Vice-President of the BIPC.

Song has gained a group of honors, such as "Touching China Figure at the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the New China,""National Outstanding Communist Party Member,""National Advanced Worker," Top 10 Heroine of China and National March 8th Red Banner Holder.
